Beach Trip 2020 (Post 1)

Seeing that the kids were basically out of school early, we decided to take advantage of such and head to the beach for a family getaway before the building on our storefront really got going.  We found a strawberry field in Florence along the way.
Once we were there, I realized that this was Beach's first time actually picking Strawberries.  It must have been the very end of the season, as the berries were sparse, but we managed to fill up at least one basket.
Ezra was not happy that some juice got on his shirt.
My little crew was more into playing this round, but we enjoyed the beautiful day and surroundings.  I great way to break up the drive!

Despite not having a place booked out in advance, with the craziness that this year had brought, thus far, we found something that would fit our needs in Cherry Grove.  Our first time in the area, we were thankful for the opportunity.  While on the way, we found out that we were able to check in early at the house!
Then then headed for the beach for a nice walk.
Pier fun.
The "let's not get our clothes wet right now" did not work out, shocker I know.
When Lauren and William made it to the house, Zoe and I went with her for another walk.
We spotted this beast on the way.
More pier pictures, because I love them so...
and I attempted some with Lauren, which we just laughed at how wind made our hair so crazy.
Zoe wanted a picture with us as well.
We kept on walking to the end of the beach at Cherry Grove, which was amazingly beautiful!
Lauren getting that good shot!
Good lighting means another selfie attempt, complete with wind blow bangs.
We found that the beach made a peninsula, connecting to a river/canal.
Zoe expressed how she wanted to walk to the other side.
We came home to find the boys playing baseball.
Grilling out was up for the first night.  Loved that they had table outside, which is where we ended up eating all of our meals.  An adult rotated with the kids table, and Poppy was up first.
Full plates and hearts for the great day and what is to come.

While school was mostly over, the kids had one more virtual conference with their class, which we thankfully could do at the beach.  Ezra was up first and we enjoyed the weather and snuggles while doing so.
They presented to the class their awards, and Ezra got the Attitude is Everything award.  Totally fitting for him as he always (at least at school and mostly at home) has such an amazing attitude, and I am so thankful for it!
We were dressed for the beach, so as soon as that was done, we headed out to play!
I love to see them work as a team to accomplish their goal, like making a lake.
Ezra's favorite: boarding!
And Poppy is great at teaching him the skills.
Shiloh turned her little pond area into a foot washing station, complete with sand scrub, and performed services on any family feet that would participate.
The strangest thing, that despite it being the beginning of June, it was unseasonably cool.  So Zoe would get pretty cold after coming out of the water.
Lunch break!
When laying down to rest briefly, Ezra pulled up a boogie board to lay right along with me!
Zoe pleaded with me for them to take their boogie boards down to the inlet to play in the water.  It was quite a walk for them to carry the boards, but they did it.
They enjoyed playing in the shallow water with little waves.
Towels were used to help keep us warm against the cool wend on the way back.  I was amazed that Shiloh walked the mile or so back, caring both boogie boards with no complaints.  When she is motivated to do something, she is unstoppable.
Selfie break.
Despite the warm sun and large wrapped towel, someone was still chilly!
Poppy gave her some extra snuggles.  I treasure that she will still crawl in our lap and still fits!
We had a great fun day (not pictured: dinner and games with the adults when the littles were in bed).  Looking forward to the rest of the week!
