20 years!

20 years married.  It seems like such a long time, and that we have experienced so many seasons together, yet hard to believe that we are at the 20-year-mark!  In thinking about such a milestone the past couple of years, I wanted to do a big trip, perhaps Europe? I had started looking at ideas and planning in my heart.  However, when our out West trip had to be moved, and work seemed to not be escapable, anything big seemed to overwhelming and stressful in an already stressful season.  However, it didn't seem right to not do anything for such a milestone!  So I planned some low key things.  On the actual day, we grabbed a quick dinner date in between kid pickups.
While I was not feeling well, I did cherish our time together! We ate a a local place enjoying their patio, and Beach got a drink that even had our cold brew in it!

For that weekend, I did plan a trip to nearby Savannah, as it has been years and years since being there.  Being less than a couple of hours away, it felt doable and we could return if need be for work. Our first stop was a local coffee shop, of course.
The size of our breakfast was not quite what we expected.
So we headed out to walk around a bit!
I let Beach know that I would be taking many picture, so be prepared (not his favorite)!😝
We checked into the Kimpton Brice Hotel, as I found a great deal on Travelzoo (a legit website for steals).  I chose this hotel because it was still located downtown and had great amenities, including free bike rentals!
I wore the silly bike helmet because I worry about safety like that.  Savannah has so many squares that are beautiful but you are not supposed to ride your bike through them, so we just walked them a lot and marved at our surroundings.
Another perk of the hotel, free happy hour in the courtyard that included drinks and snacks.
We ate dinner at a restaurant that we could just walk to, B. Matthew's Eatery!
They had great service and yummy food!
We then walked down to the river and watched the sunset. Lots of fun walkways in this old town.
The next morning we had breakfast at the hotel and then set out for a full day of adventures!  We got a Tour Pass for the day, which basically means you can do as much as or as little of the included activities within that days time.  You can pack in a lot if you plan it right! Our first stop was the Savannah History Museum.
We then walked to the nearby Georgia State Railroad Museum.  One thing that I love about the pass is that we end up doing things that we may not have chosen to do on our own.  If we end up not liking it or going quickly through something, it is no big deal or loss of value.
This place was pretty interesting, though!
Can you spot Beach on the train that we were about to ride?
It just goes through the property but also on a switchyard as well, which was interesting.
Next we got on the Hop on Hop off Trolly Tour, as we headed to our next destination.
Another stop for the tour, the Andrew Low House.
We were just in time to join a tour, which had a TON of info and helped our imaginations of living in such a time!
After lunch, we had to take a photo of one of the most beautiful streets in America.
Beach was a good sport for me....
We grabbed some afternoon coffee at the Coffee Fox, because of course.
Then we stopped at another Tour Pass spot, the Savannah Square Pops. It was hard to decide what flavor to get as there were so many that sounded so good!
I got covered in melting chocolate as we walked to The Telfair Academy...

Near there was the Jappsen Center for the Arts.

I loved the lines in this area!

We were able to squeeze in one more stop on the Tour Pass at the Prohibition Museum.

It as surprisingly interesting!
Then it was back to the hotel to take advantage again of the free happy hour.
The last perk of the tour is a premium item and we chose a sunset boat tour!
Thankful for our time to get away together.
The boat assistant took some photos as well, but they did not turn out as well.
So I took my own sunset one!
We hadn't had dinner, as we were not that hungry but decided to get some chicken tender snack at a place by the water and then back to our hotel!
The next morning we took advantage of the room service option and the food credit that we got...
as well as some down time at the pool
One more stop before we headed out of town at a really old coffee house that we, also, grabbed lunch at.
What a blessing to be able to get away for a bit and spend some time together!  So much has happened over the past 20 years that it feels like phases of different lifetimes.  We truly have needed to Lord to get us through and had to battle so many things!  So thankful for the Lord's help, Beach's faithfulness to me and our family, and for this time to celebrate this milestone!
