New Years Lake and Chili!

New Years Eve and we were off to an eye appointment for Zoe in the morning.  The kids did well so I grabbed some Chick-fil-A and we headed to the lake to surprise them.
It was a great way to spend the morning in nature so close to home.
Zoe is always wanting to climb trees.
Exploring the shoreline.
My artist, who will create anywhere with anything, made a rock fisherman.
He was pretty friendly.
We enjoyed some rock seats.
Every time I visit, which isn't often, I am reminded on how I need to come more often.

Zoe had a sleepover at her Grands and was pleasantly surprised when she got picked up in the Thunderbird.
They sent us this picture of their celebration.

The rest of us were off to friend's house for a chili cook off.
It was a close race, in which a recount was needed.  In the end, though, Beach humbly passed off his trophy to a new champion.
Kara was a happy winner!
The hard worker can't stand to party to long and this is a normal site after awhile.
Since we couldn't find a countdown on Netflix that we usually use, the kids just counted down to a phone timer, with a cheers at the end.  It was a bit anti-climatic (see the looks on some of the older ones faces).  We then headed home to just miss the ball drop.
The kids enjoyed playing with Zoe's party supplies the next day.  Happy New Year to all!
