Shiloh's 10-year-old Getaway

Continuing our tradition of a one-on-one overnight trip for our child's 10 birthday, Shiloh's big day had arrived.
In anticipation for the big day, Shiloh created a book!
It was precious and full of thought and fun!
She picked out an AirB&B on a horse farm just over the state line in NC.  We packed a lunch and stopped at a park on the way.
We walked along the river, talked, and explored old canals.
We then headed to our AirB&B where the host was so thoughtful in having birthday surprises for Shiloh.
We enjoyed the chocolate covered strawberries on the porch.
One thing that really appealed to her was staying in the loft bed!
Then it was time to meet all the farm friends.
Our host provided us with some food for them as well.  So Shiloh loved getting to feed and pet them.
The property was beautiful, especially the walk to the horse barn.
Shiloh just loved the horses so!
We met the goats and Shiloh learned about one of their bullying behaviors, which she did not care for.
Then we headed to the closest small town for dinner.
And explored around while waiting for our table.
Fun rainbow yarn wall!
My girl was craving a burger, so we ate at the popular burger joint there.
We waited a lonnnnggg time, but played with pop it games that Shiloh had brought.
And sadly the food wasn't that good either, but the company was!
Back to our cabin, and Shiloh enjoyed her handmade art cookie while we played checkers.
She had the idea of stacking allll of the blankets and pillows in the place on top of me in an attempt to mimic my weighted blanket.  Then the stressful part of the trip for her...to sleep in her loft of the rare optioninty to sleep in the bed with me.  She indecisively went back and forth trying to make her best choice.
The next morning I learned how to use a Nespresso maker.
And we partook in the pastries that we had gotten the previous day at a local bakery!
Shiloh enjoyed the sweet one, not so much the savory type.
Then it was on to visit all the animals again.
Such a picturesque barn.
This particular horse was very old and was getting ready to go for a ride, so Shiloh got a closer look and we got to talk to its owner.
She mentioned several times after that how much she wished she had a horse and how she would want to work in a stable when she gets older.
Then we explored more of the property that was filled with all sorts of trails.
She insisted that we bring our matching shirts which we sported for the day.
While she had concerns that we had gotten lost, I thankful have a good sense of direction and we eventual made our way back.
Our little cabin for the night.
We finished off the chocolate covered strawberries...
and hung out a little in the woods.
We, then, packed up and headed back into town where we had some Greek food.
Shiloh was beyond excited to have her first Boba tea.
She had, also, found a popcorn bowl in the clearance sale at a shop which we bought.  She ended up wearing it on her head for awhile, getting many stairs and a couple of questions.
Then we had one more stop before heading home.  I had researched and found that close by there was a trail that had a suspension bridge about a mile in.
About halfway across the bridge there was a sign stating the SC/NC boarder.
If we had more time, we would have hiked even more, but thankful for all we did get to see.
Such a special trip full of memories with my sweet 10-year-old Shiloh!  We both had a blast and it was so great getting away together to be present with one another and nature.
