September Highlights ('24)

September held its challenges for us (including many work transitions, Shiloh's hospitalization and canceled trip birthday trip - with emotional struggles around such).  Some highs of the month, though....
At the pool for closing day!  Shiloh had been on antibiotics and fever free for a couple of days and really wanted to go.  I was thinking she was on the mend and looking more perky.  However, a little swim time and then she was out for the day.
Zoe was beyond thrilled to run into her elementary bestie!

Friend's birthday celebration!

Selfies on my phone for the month...
I'm not even safe when reading my Bible 😜
Nor am I safe when coming out of the shower...this one asks for a picture together!

Cross Country season means meets most Saturdays.  We were glad for a closer one (even if it was a bit rainy).
Zoe started the season off well already beating her PR.
Had some cousins and siblings come out to support Zoe!
And my parents, too!
Waiting on the results...you may not be able to tell that Zoe had a Gatorade shower just prior to this.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shiloh missed her first game due to her hospital stay.  The following week I was not able to go to Shiloh's game (hard when it is over an hour away and commitments with other kids), but thankful to be sent pictures!
Shiloh and her best buddie!
Ezra went fishing at my parent's pond.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The girls' school had a theme day that they joined in for spirit week, "Cowboy vs. Country Club".
A break from their uniforms is always exciting!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We hit up the local pizza shop that donated some of their proceeds to Zoe's cross county team, and she was excited to try it out!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When your up early to watch your sister at her cross country meet and representing the family business.
Lots of downtown, so an arm wrestling match thrown in for fun.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Zoe went to her first dance with homecoming at her school.  She got ready at a friend's house, who graciously took some photos before they headed out.
Such a beauty!
Silly girls.
She actually forgot her ticket, so they met me at a gas station to get it.  I was thankful to get to see a glimpse of her all made up!  The other sweet momma, offered to take a picture (I was quite a contrast in still being in my sweaty clothes from the day), but I will always take a picture with my girl!
Beautiful morning before church.
Unfortunately Zoe (and I) got some kind of nasty virus that lasted for weeks (chest X-ray didn't reveal anything).  This greatly impacted her energy levels and breathing. Thus, in turn making it a hard rest of a cross country season!  She was not able to attend as many practices and some meets as well.
Date night with my man.  For my birthday my family went in to give us tickets to see Cirque Du Soleil when they were in town.
It was an interesting and bizarre experience.
The story line itself was bug themed, simple yet confusing.  However, it is always amazing to see what the human body can do and the amazing tricks they performed!
A very hard transition at work, where our manager of so many years moved on...
We had a great run and so thankful for our time together with a great friend!
Thankful for the good amongst all the hard of the month!
Birthday Sturggles
My in-laws graciously had us over to celebrate my birthday early.
Yummy burger cookout!  Unfortunately, Shiloh was not feeling well, so she did not join us.  We were celebrating early, as we had expected to be gone for my actually birthday.
Donna made an amazing gluten free cake.
Zoe continued with her selfie era...
Zoe made such a sweet surprise for my birthday.  It was even more of a surprise, as it was a couple of days before.  She wrote on individual post-it notes 45 reasons that she loved me.
It was so thoughtful and sweet and completely warmed my heart.
On the actual big day, Beach gave me a card complete with an inside joke.
Some sweet cards from my kids:
If I'm honest, though, the day itself was full of grief.  I was so excited for the trip that I had planned where we would all have been in Zion National park that day.  It was heartbreaking to have to let that go, but then I felt upset with myself for even being so upset at this fact when it was more important that we were all on the road to better health.  Birthdays are, also, a trigger for me in general (a fact I, also, don't like) and it feels like all the weight and heaviness of life lands on that day.   After some morning, I dragged myself out of bed and went on a walk with my kids.  Ezra snapped this picture of us.
After dinner, Beach surprised me with a specialty gluten free cake.
Looking rough with cried off makeup, "Grace Wins" shirt (to remind me of such), and my family that does truly love me.
Another year that has faded and celebrating in a way that I did not choose, but filled with the love and grace that I need.  Perhaps we will be able to go on our amazing trip that I planned next year.  Perhaps, Lord willing.  For now, I will continue to ask the Lord to give me His eyes to see and to count the many blessings along the way!
