Birthday Mountain Trip

I was so thankful to get away for a night with my family to the mountains!  It's been awhile and something that is so special to me.  We hit up Sidewall Pizza on the way in at Travelers Rest for my birthday dough!
After walking around a bit and checking out the local market....
we headed to our next stop, Jeter Mountain Farms.
We had found this treasure last year on the way to Tennessee.  However, this year all the crowds had found it as well and it was a different experience.  We loaded up in the wagon to pick some apples.
The pickings were very slim, though.  We found a couple to taste...
Shinning the goods.
Thankfully Beach was persistent and able to fill up the basket for us, as we could not find many (other than the ground).
It was such a gorgeous day and we were thankful for cooler temperatures.
You have to wait in line to get back on the wagon, where it is lined with trees that you cannot pick from yet.  So we took a picture there to enjoy them that way at least.
Then it was off for some treats!
Massive indoor play area!
With a flight for us to enjoy while they played.
My tall girls!
We then enjoyed the beautiful walk to the car!
We unloaded all of our things at our AirB&B and found this interesting nut.
Our guest was kind in having me take home the bouquet she had for us in the cabin.

We headed to Jump Off Rock for a picnic dinner and hopes of a beautiful sunset.
It was a bit to cloudy for that but enjoyed the company none the less.
We had a little time to explore but wished we had a bit more sunlight to do even more.
Then it was back to our AirB&B to use the s'more kit that was left for us.
Moments like this make me so thankful for AirB&B stays!
Then it was off to sleep.  I had forgotten to bring Ezra's sleeping bag and the bed situation made it a little more difficult (there were not as many housing options since I booked more last minute).  One child does a lot of "sleep yelling", so that was less than ideal, as we were constantly woken up.
The next morning you could somewhat make out the private waterfall that was at the house next door.
We had picked up some baked goods on the way the previous day to have for breakfast.
The weather was a bit misty, as we headed to our first stop, which was right up the rode.
Mining for treasure was fun!
We all like rocks so it was an enjoyable activity to see the variety that we ended up with.
They had an awesome gem store of so many things to see, and we found a little treasure to take home as well.
The rain moved out enough for us to play on the outside course.
Going to check out the different animals....
Beach was kind in humoring me to go sit next to a chicken for a photo.
They, also, had a dinosaur theme going on...
Next up... tacos!
We were all fans!
The weather was clear enough for a hike (which I was very thankful for).
We headed for Triple Falls.
So much beauty along the way.
Playing with ferns.
We had taken this hike a few years back with them when they were younger.
They took a picture again in the same tree along the path.
So many pretty sights along the way!
Laughing kissing photo because it grosses our girls out!
I sure do love my people!
Skipping stones...
I spot Shiloh sunning on a rock!
The sun came out and nature was in full view!
Such a beautiful place!
We wore the the girls out though (Zoe was struggling with a healing ankle)....
But we pushed to the bridge for some more amazing views.
This tween loves photos (does sarcasm come across hard enough)...
We had a little bit of time left in the day and hit up a massive park on the way back home.
What is not seen in all the beautiful pictures was some major crankiness with some of the kids (later learned there was a major underlining health issue that contributed to this), some issues with moisture in the AirB&B and kids high standards, a not so great night of sleep (thanks to sleep yelling), as well as some other frustrating details.  BUTTTT overall I am so thankful for our time to get away together and enjoyed seeing nature with our family so much!  I'm hoping it won't be years again before we make it back to the NC mountains!
