Capers Island

Shiloh's fifth grade whet on a field trip to a barrier island, Capers Island.
Near Charleston we had some fun scenery to see as we got closer to our destination.
Assign seating meant we sat together on the bus, which Shiloh wasn't a fan of, nor did she want to take a selfie.
Shiloh's BFF was in our group and they are such sweet friends!
We took a long boat ride to the island, and had some stops along the way to examine some sea life, like this little crab.
Our guide was awesome and so knowledgeable (I learned so much as well).
The kids had the option of holding a live blue crab if they wanted to try it.
Shiloh was a bit nervous but gave it a go.
We also saw so many dolphins before making it to land.
An undeveloped island for us to explore and see nature at its finest.
Boneyard beach had some amazing things to see...
The weather could not have been more perfect, and I was filled with joy in my happy place.
Our group posed for a large picture.
I think all the kids had a great time as well!
We spotted more dolphins on the boat ride back.  I even tried a raw oyster when our guide found one and offered to the boat.  There were no other takers and I thought why not!
Many of the kids slept on the bus ride home, as we had to be at school before 6:45 am that day.  Our trip together was a treasured time, for sure, with my middle girl!
