After a fantastic full day in Sedona, the next morning we drove the couple hours to our next destination, the Grand Canyon.
We were blessed with another breathtaking day!
This lookout at Mather Point definitely draws the crowds!
It was busy and we had to wait awhile for a shuttle for the hike we picked out at on the South Kaibab Trail.
While there were some areas of the trail that were wide, there were many more narrower areas that me nervous. The steep drop was unforgiving and learning hiking etiquette when passing was an ongoing discussion (as was not jostling each other to always be ahead). When Beach and I were here a couple of years prior in February, the trails were really icy and I had a dangerous slip, so that scare was forefront of my mind.
They had some large boulders in the area that made a great resting place to enjoy the view before we hiked back up!
The kind of tired/resting look (that would be a great CD band cover 😜).
The hike back up...
We took more than one brief break.
Afterwards we explored more of the rim edge, taking on different perspectives.
We spotted some elk and Ezra and I went and got a bit closer look!
We ate at one of the lodges, which was actually pretty reasonable and we were excited for this meal!
Then we attempted to catch another sunset. The temperature dropped a lot and we were pretty chilly but it was beautiful.
After returning to the lodge, Zoe and I decided to do some star gazing and snuggle on a bench. I couldn't capture it with my phone, but a picture nonetheless for me to remember this moment. A sweet way to end such a blessed day.
