Belated visit with the Grands

Thanks to the special season of COVID, our regular visits from our Michigan family was greatly postponed.   However, since school was starting back the latest possible day ever, Beach's parents were able to squeeze in a visit at the end of August.
It doesn't take long before the gifts start to flow out...
So many treasures for the littles!
Donna is such a giver and the kids are always so thankful.
She brought the girls many of her old jewelry pieces, which they enjoyed talking to her about.
Grandpa had some surprises of his own.
He demonstrated how to work them.
Shiloh, who takes after her grandma's giving heart, had some of her own gifts prepared.
Glen brought some things from his own father's desk to share with Beach.
Ezra gave some of his artwork from school...
The kids tried on some of their new items...
and got Grandma to read a book.
We had lots of catching up to do!

The next day, while the boys worked, the girls headed to the park for a bit.
I was chatting it up with Donna so much that I ended up only taking a couple of pictures of the girls.
Later, they dressed grandpa up in a blanket.
That night we watched a movie and had caramel popcorn (thanks to Donna bringing some that she had made at home).
Happy smiles all around!

After a big breakfast with biscuits and gravy on Saturday morning, we headed out antiquing.  I spotted a Lily for Donna, her favorite.
Grandma teaching Zoe her ways.
Fun to explore (besides the heat), but would have been more fun without a mask.
Even an antique phone.
Then it was off to a new park for a bit.
It was quite warm with only one shaded area, but we managed to hang for a bit.
Then, since it was the LAST day for Greenwise Market (cue depressing music), we headed there to see if there were any deals.  Boy did we hit the jackpot with the bulk deals!
We got busy making snack bags at home with all our treasures!
Grilled chicken and mashed potatoes that night were awesome!
Donna got busy again making mint brownies and had a little helper.
We enjoyed finishing our movie that night.

More baking was on the agenda for the next day as well.  The littles got to help some in making Grandma's special cookies.
Glen is always ready to fix our clock....or change it's batteries.

Donna's cousin and wife came to visit one day, bringing some stickers...
and treats for us all.
The kids really enjoyed getting to meet them last time, so they were really looking forward to it.
They wanted to share some of their own treasures as well.
We headed to our traditional place at the local Mexican restaurant.
Thankfully we could all sit together, and the kids are always happy to fill up on chips and watch the TV (even though it is muted).
They sure do love their Grands!
The whole crew...
We showed them the progress on our new building...
and headed back home for some pie and story telling.

Later that night, Zoe tried on her grandma's earrings and shoes.
And then I think they were inspired to do a fashion show where all the dress up clothes were displayed.
They were quite excited to do so.
Lots of variety from over the years.
They concluded the show with a couple of skits.
Full of animation.

The last day wasn't all that eventful, as we just caught up on life and ran some errands.  I only ended up taking this one picture, sweet reading time.
In the crazy times that we live in, we were so thankful that Beach's parents could come for a visit and spend some quality time together before the extra business starts back up.  Here is to hoping it is not another 9 months before the next visit.
