Ezra 5th

Ezra was thrilled to be back at his old stomping grounds at IES to finish out his elementary years.  We loved it so much there, and we found a way to logistically make it work!

His About Me worksheet.
The most interesting thing to me was something he chose from a few years back, "I have been quarantined 7 times."  I thought it was telling that it stuck out in his mind to include it here (along with a mask).

"Where I'm from poem" (one of my favorite writing prompts that they do).

I am from endless hours playing with zooming hot wheels,
From tasty macaroni and cheese, and pickles.
I am from playing outside, cute pickle stickers, a fast RC car, Minecraft, and baseball.
From riding bikes with my neighbor.
I am from old cars on the road.
From funny games, loving family, and Legos.

I am from a kind, helping mom who taught me to read.
I am from a nice, funny, and cool dad.
Who is always working hard owning Loveland Coffee.
I am from hugs of Zoe and Shiloh.
From a helping family that loves me.

I am from waffles on Thanksgiving, Christmas pickles, and 22nd day.
From Mac and cheese, hot dogs, and Frostys.
And my great grandpas knife he gave me.
I am from going to Grandparents on Christmas, pig on my mini hoop, and pool summers.
From St. Augustine Florida trips.
I'm from riding on my bike and scooter.

Big 10

On my birthday we went on a trip. The day came and I was sad because I was sick.  The morning was miserable.  We ate and went on our way, with warm coffee (of course).

I was so tired on the trip but I couldn't sleep!  "Are we there yet?  I'm hungry," I said.  "OK," dad said. "We'll stop at Zaxby's on the way, and we we're almost there."  Little did I know that we'd find something so cool at the campsite!

We went to the mini house and unpacked.  Then we went to look around.  We found the game room, and found out that there were fish in the pond!  Then we went back to the mini house and chilled a little, then we went to get sticks for the campfire.
"Dad look gold!" I yelled.  "It's small pieces in the stream, but it's still gold!"  "Your's right," said my dad. "It's the good stuff too!  Nice find!" " Let's go to the house to make a campfire," I said. After the tasty marshmallows, we went inside to get ready for bed.  Since we had time before bed, we watched some TV.  After that we went to bed.

I woke up with lots more energy than the day before.  After we had breakfast we went fishing.  First, I tried the fun fishing pole, then the normal one (I liked the normal one more though).  After we finished fishing we went to the game room.  There was no one there!  So we loudly played pool and air hockey (that hurt my ears) and went back to the mini house and chilled some more until it was time to go.  When we left I felt all better!

Clay artwork - not sure what is going on here...

Ezra's group was chosen to be part of the district science fair.  They spent a Saturday morning at the competition (not his favorite way to spend a day).

At the end of the year, the kids bring home their large portfolio that they created in art over the past few months.
Here are some of his pieces, although some were not quite done.

A big 5th grade project that they worked on over several weeks as they prepared for their Capers island field trip was on nature items from the beach.  Each card included research that he had done, as well as an illustration on one side.

A sweet note from one of the staff members.

Ezra made the honor roll each quarter.
By the end of the year, he had brought his grades up and made "A" honor roll for the year.  Smart kiddo!
I am so proud of this young guy!  He has such an easy going helpful personality.  Thankfully he was able to spend so much time outside this year playing with our neighbor!  We are very blessed on his journey throughout his elementary school and that he could finish it at IES!
