Vegas - Red Rock (Day 5)

Just because we had a flight in the afternoon did not mean that the vacation fun had to be over yet.  I figured out that you could rent a car from our hotel and drop if off at the airport.  So after being patient in line to confirm my reservation, we were off!
On the way out we stopped by the Las Vegas sign to get some last pictures of the city.
There was a man that appeared to be there all the time, just to take pictures for tips, and we appreciated his services and great eye.
Red Rock Canyon is less than a half an hour from the city.  An easy drive, where we stopped for breakfast, and picked up lunch to have there later.  You do need to reserve a time to get onto the road, as it can get crowded, but we did not run into that issue.
So excited to see all the beauty!
We stopped by the visiter center that had some interesting exhibits.
This dessert had things I had never seen and didn't imagine it being quite this way!
Joshua Tree!  They are very unique and not what I had pictured at all.
There truly were so many breathtaking and fun photo opportunities.
While he may not love it, I always enjoy capturing Beach in his hobby!
Can you spot the Beach?
Lauren found some rocks she loved and enjoyed for the next hour!
Beach and I decided to set off for what we thought was a little hike, but it turned out to be a bit more.  We found this rock formation along the way!
Beach made his mark in adding to it.
This terrain!
It was not easy always knowing where the trail was at.
Made it to the top, or end of this trail....and you could spot Las Vegas from here!

After hiking back down, we then jumped back in the car, stopped at a picnic area and went on another small trail.
There were even some old schechings on the wall.
Finally, we changed a bit, and headed to the airport to check in our car and ourselves.  We were there with plenty of time to spare and I found a space a bit further from our gate to charge my phone.  Apparently we were not listening well to the announcements and only caught the last one to the final boarding call to our flight.  We then got a fast paced cardio run to make it to the gate, as some panic set in.  But all was well and we enjoyed our rows to ourselves again and gazing at the beautiful skyline one last time.
This trip was such a gift and I am so thankful for all that we got to experience!  Also, thankful for awesome friends that were up for an adventure as well (and we were still friends after the trip 😜).  Thank you Lord for this gift!
