RVing in a Vineyard (Cali Day 8)

After several long days of sight seeing including a couple of Yosemite Park (blog Day 6 here and Day 7 here), I had a leisurely day planed for us as we were to make our way back to the other side of the state.
I knew that our last AirB&B stay was going to be an interesting one, as they had many fun reviews!  It did not disappoint!  We had had the grand tour the night beforehand but got to get to know the owner that morning even more, as he made us breakfast in his fun kitchen!  (The wife was off working at VBS and she seemed great, too.)
He made us cheese bagels that really "sticks to your ribs"!  Not something I tend to go for in my food choices but I looked over the fact that I would not normally eat such and enjoyed this experience!  We ended up having a really late start as we got to know him even more!
Had to admire their handmade kitchen curtains.
I enjoyed wondering around the house that was full of random items squeezed into as much space as possible.
Somehow it all just worked!  And our room had a book explaining about many of the treasures that were there and the meaning behind them.
I am not skilled in the decorating department, so it blew my mind how she was able to put together everything that she did.
The backyard was just as fun, right along a running creek.
The only thing that I hated was that we would probably never get a chance to go back!  It felt like staying with family and was a highlight for sure!
We then had few hours to drive to our next destination and stopped at a pistachio farm along with way.  They were not in season to be picked but we did manage to get some from a little local shop.
On Beach's short list of things he wanted to do in California was to eat at In-N-Out Burger.  I was surprised about how few of them there seemed to be during our travels BUT there was one right near the next town we were staying.  So needless to say we enjoyed our lunch!
The area is know for all of the wineries around, and while we were waiting to hear back from the next place we were staying, we decided to check one out!
We tried several varieties but our favorite by far was a dessert wine that was blended with chocolate and coffee.  YES. PLEASE!  Although they didn't know for sure if they could ship to SC, we were told they would check on it and took our information.  (We didn't hear from them until we were back home with a response that they couldn't.  Bummed that we didn't try to bring a bottle on our flight.)
The vineyard was beautiful and I snagged a picture, unknowingly to Beach, while he snagged a kiss!
I was a little perturb that we had not heard back from our host for our last night, our first time at a VIRBO.  So we just decided that we should show up to see if we were still good for the night (or if I would have to scramble to find something else).
When we got there the hubby was still cleaning out the RV so they said we could just relax on their property and wait.  It was truly beautiful.  The couple was interesting, to say the least, and each seemed to blame the other for their lack of being prepared.
The reason we chose this location was that it seemed like such a fun idea.  A retro camper on their own little vineyard!
This was my first stay in a camper.  This one had a lot of potential in many ways if a little more care would be put into it.  It was by far one of the most disappointing things of the trip.
We took a little rest in a hammock (after brushing off the bird poop)...
and talked about what was next.  I was really thrown off, time wise and emotionally, from trying to figure out our stay that it limited what were were able to do the rest of the day.  So we just tried to enjoy a relaxing time together (and by we I mean me, Beach has no trouble enjoying relaxing).
We checked out the vineyard a bit, packed up for our flight the next day...
and then went out to the local town for a earlier dinner, recommendations from our host.  The food was ok and there was only one other couple there.  Later we walked around town and saw other places that were packed and joked about how we were lead astray by our host again.
They had a couple of fun little things in the town, including an interesting children's play area.
Also, we learned a new way to cross the street.  Seriously, we observed these flags and then someone across the street appeared to take one and walk away.  I was wondering while she would do so until I figured out that was the method of communicating to drivers that we were crossing and they would have to stop (pedestrians have the right away).  We giggled (well I giggled Beach does not really "giggle") at ourselves at our own confusion.
We didn't really know much more to do, so we headed back to the RV to enjoy our wine from the vineyard and watch the setting sun together, reflecting on our journey.
The sun does magically things!
An early bedtime was decided so that we could squeeze some more fun in the am before our flight.  I just went to bed hoping and praying that bugs would not be on me from the holes in the walls!  At least the setting was beautiful!
