Animal Kingdom (Florida - Day 5)

After an amazing time with more family the day before, the time had finally come to head to Disney!
We decided Animal Kingdom would be a great fit for us with it being slightly calmer.
It was amazing and our excitement levels were pretty intense.
This girl right here was beyond a fabulous host! Linden and her family had recently moved to Florida  for her hubby to work at Disney.  It was such a blast meeting up with them.  Her joyous and yet calm spirit were so perfect in getting me in the right head space to truly have the best of days.  A week before I had no idea of this meet up, and certainly not here, but God had planned it!  It was so fun catching up while in the long line waiting for the most popular ride to start the day.
Since going to Animal Kingdom was not in the original plans, I had not researched much about it.  So there was more than one time in line, I questioned what was this ride we were waiting for (and would my kids freak out), trying to get around what the hype was about.  It was an avatar stimulation that felt like you were flying.  People loved it so much that they would actually wait three hours for it. Sounds interesting!
There were some unusual things to spot along the way.
The ride itself was CRAZY.  It took my body awhile afterwards to calm down, as it truly felt so real that you were flying over and though all this beautiful scenery.  I had one child that liked it, while the others were to scared to get over the fear factor.  However, it was a fun experience, and I learned that we would keep things more low key for the rest of the Disney fun. We bid adieu to our amazing friends, as they headed back home and we explored more of what the park had to offer.
Since I knew little about the park we checked out some of the different areas.
We spotted an airplane writing in the sky.
And found many a spot for pictures.
They had very few last minute fast past options, but one that we did get to chose was the Nemo show.
It was investing to see how they put everything together with huge puppets...
robots of sorts...
and even bubbles for the audience at the end.  (I love how my kids are still really into bubbles.)
Then we checked out many of the animals around.
Even the passage ways were fascinating.
We hopped on a train, to my little boy's joyous heart.
And got off to explore the trails.  It took us awhile to realize we were at a completely separate area...
but we took some pics, found a small petting zoo...
and headed back on the train to the main part of the park.
The thing I was most excited about was the Safari ride.  We decided to tackle waiting in line for an hour to make it happen and I'm so glad we did.
We got to see many animals up close, including my first time seeing a hippo.  He was sunbathing his red self!
A pit of crocodiles.
We had a giraffe come and greet us!
Then it was off to the Lion King show.  We barely squeezed in with this performance, hence not the greatest seats but thankful we were able to make it in!
It was a fun acrobatic performance!
Zoe's favorite thing of the park!
Of course, they were, also, all big fans of the special treat that they got next.
Desserts are a rarity in our house, so they were very elated to get to partake!
Some more checking out the amazing Tree of Life that has carvings all around it and caves under it.
We went to a 3D bug show....that produced many screams.
Not everyone was a fan, but the girls seemed to enjoy it!
Zoe had yet to choose her specialty treat, as she wanted to see the options that were available, but landed on an ice-cream sandwich as well (she shared a bite).
We, then, used our fast pass for the dinosaur ride.  Something about waiting in the short line (to us), made Shiloh very scared, and she proceeded to cry and beg to get out of going on the ride.  However, there was no turning back and we made it through.
We then found a ride that was everyone's speed...
They all LOVED going on the circling dinosaur ride, in which they could control it going up or down.
We, then, let them play in the HUGE amazing play area, grabbed some dinner and returned for some more calm dino fun.
The crowds had thinned out so much that we could go on the ride repeatedly.  Score!
So many smiles and laughter that we rode it till it closed.
Then, feeling like we had the park all to ourselves, we headed to the light show on the water.
It was an amazing artistry of projections, boats, fountains, music and fun.
Such a creative imaginative show!
It was a fabulous way to end the night after an unforgettable day.
(I will choose to focus on that ending instead of how I had to carry Ezra to the car, as he was so tired and upset...aka delirious...over his hotdog - that he was to full to eat - getting thrown away.  Thus,  him declaring it was the worst day of his life.  Hopefully that memory will completely fade;-)
