Ag & Art Tour

One of our favorite summer activities is the Ag & Art tour throughout our state.  You get to visit many local farms, who, also, have local artisans on site.  This year it was just the girls and myself, as Ezra was at a baseball camp and Beach was working on our house.
We went to the Richland County tour weekend, where we started out at the farm furthest from us, Uhuru farm (I knew the girls would love to see the horses that were to be there).  This horse owner was gracious in talking with us for some time and teaching us all about them.  We got to meet his best friend and bond with him for a bit.
We grabbed some specialty made elderberry lemonade and checked out the venders while we waited for the horse rides to begin.
The girls truly enjoyed their ride with such beautiful horses!
While I wasn't planning on it, with a little encouragement, I took a turn as well!

We picked up some strawberries when driving by Cottle Farm, and then grabbed some shrimp and grits at the Congaree Milling Company (and some bags to bring home).  Next, we headed to the beautiful Rosewood Public Orchard.
This community garden was so fun, and the kids enjoyed a huge tree to climb.
Shiloh noted that she could just hang out all day there.
They were cutting a watermelon with a machete and when someone mentioned that the girls could try such; they jumped on the chance.
I'm thinking they liked cutting it even more than eating it!
Perhaps cutting it with the machete makes it taste even better?
Shiloh added on to a community piece of artwork.  Such a great idea and it was amazing see how many people added their gifting throughout the day.
It would be fun to see the finished product at the end of the day.
With the Owens Field playground right near it, we had to stop by for a few zips!
Silly girl!

We had a shorter stop at the Sustainable Carolina Garden.
Where the girls planted some sunflower seeds in some egg shells to take home and for us to plant later.
A quick rest....
that didn't last long.

Then we headed to the Farm at Senate's End where Dipratos had an amazing crepe station set up.
We chose an caramel apple one to share.
Zoe took our selfie, missed the goods but got our excited faces to dig in!
Rock painting in the garden.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We stopped by briefly to check out Gardener's Outpost, where their bearded dragon was a favorite in interacting.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our final stop was Sal's Ol' Timely Feed & Seed store. I didn't realize that the tour ended at four, which was when we arrived, but we were still able to squeeze in some fun.
Many old wagons there for display, but this one you could sit on.  The girls enjoyed doing so while munching on their boiled peanuts.
We got an up close with the animals as well!
Bidding goodbye to our last friend for the day.
While we were off to see a baseball game that night, we filled all the farm fun we could into the day!  Zoe, who had just wanted to visit one farm before we started, was so thankful to keep getting to visit more and we all truly had a blast together. We missed family that couldn't join us but truly treasured the memories from the day and getting to see different pieces of our community!  We look forward to next year going at it again!
