Downtown Cola

With school rapidly approaching I wanted to seal in more memories and quality time together with the littles.  So we had a fun morning being tourist in our own downtown Columbia.
They are really doing so much to liven up Main Street, yet the morning was a great time to come when it wasn't yet crowded!
Thankfully the awesome sister, Lauren, came with us to help keep them reigned in.
The girls have been talking about going to the State House since spotting the building a few weeks ago.  I'm not sure I have ever even been inside, so we decided to explore!
It truly is a beautiful building and it's interesting to wonder about the many people that have walked these halls over the years and how times have changed.
The kind security guard brought us beyond the ropes, shared many of the intimate details (like how many of the house members had candy stashes at their desk) and answered many of my littles questions (many around the said candy).  We got to pretend to be the lieutenant governor.
Such a beautiful site...
and the kids loved the many stairs.
So glad we squeezed in this am visit!
Then it was on to Gladdy's gang at the art museum!
They had a couple of new fun exhibits that the kids enjoyed!
Then it was time to create art ourselves!
Our grand "tools" to protect those littles who prefer not to get messy!
Masterpieces were created and seemed to be enjoyed by all!
With a few more minutes on the parking meter, we awed at all the yarn bombs on main street.  Zoe took a picture of a sun one with her own sunset!
One of our favorite trees done by a friend at church!
Such a fabulous day enjoying some of the fabulous things our town has to offer...now who is up for a visit?
